Coming from Singapore, we're not the hugging type. It's just not part of our culture. Parents never said l Love You. They showed their love by letting you live with them. But then I moved to Canada, and boy, was it a different scene.
At first, I was taken aback by how my Mexican friends were big on hugging. It was like their way of saying hello, goodbye, and everything in between. Initially, I was hesitant. But you know what? They grabbed me anyways and gave me a hug. Then I gave it a try, and suddenly it became my thing too.
I'm not saying you should all go around hugging random strangers – boundaries are important, folks. But with friends, why not? A hug can lift spirits, make someone's day, and honestly, it shows I do care about them in my own Singaporean way.
And Yes, It's a little awkward when I do it in Singapore, but if Optimus Prime is Robot enough to do it, it's good enough for me!
