Sometimes, you just gotta call it quits...

I have rules. I made these for myself to escape the many trappings of life. The following, perhaps is one of my most important one.

Always do what you want, the way you want to do it, for as long as you want to do it; and if you don't like it, change it.

In our journey through life and career, it's essential to remember: always pursue what resonates with your true self. Whether it's a new project, a career shift, or a personal hobby, give it your all. But remember, it's equally important to recognize when something no longer serves your purpose.

Change, then, becomes not just an option, but a necessity.

I have never considered myself as a professional. I am a human bean first and then everything else. We are a complex blend of roles – siblings, parents, friends, mentors. Interestingly, many of us are cherished more for who we once were than who we are now. This realization shouldn't be a constraint but a liberating thought. It's okay to evolve, to explore new avenues in life and career. After all, how will we discover our true potential if we never venture beyond our comfort zones?

So, here's to embracing the multifaceted journey of life, to trying new things, and to the continuous evolution of our personal and professional selves.

Because in this ever-changing world, the only constant is our ability to grow, learn, and transform.

To illustrate, consider my students I have taught. While many have excelled in compositing, others have left to become skilled Paint Artists, Storyboard Artists, Match-movers, Lighters, Matte Painters, FXTDs, and others have found their calling elsewhere.

Some have ventured beyond the industry's boundaries, discovering success in entirely different areas.

Their journeys are a testament to the power of following one's heart and the courage it takes to venture into the unknown.

As Bilbo once said "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you'll be swept off to."
