When I turned 40 last year, I made a decision to reduce the amount of time I spend on Social Media. It's an easy thing to fall into when you are a new dad. There were days I was doom scrolling, and whenever I looked at the time, 30 minutes had passed, and I had no memories of what I had seen - all those posts and videos I mindlessly consumed, didn't even leave a lasting impression for me to refer back to.
This is the reason I don't follow anyone anymore on Instagram. It's too damn addictive!
So, I unfollowed everyone except for my immediate family (because they don't post a whole lot and one cousin who makes up for it ) and a few exceptions. And one of those exceptions is my former student Keiya's Instagram account.
What makes Keiya's account so special to me is his uncanny ability to rank Movies and TV Shows. I reckon' he is more closer and unbiased then the Oscars or Golden Globes. Every year, he picks his favorite shows and shares them on his Instagram. Whenever I want to watch something, I check out Keiya's recommendations first. Not IMDB's, but KEIYA's!
So yeah, I highly recommend his Instagram account if you're looking for Movie / TV Show recommendations.
And did I mention his absolutely insane autograph collection? He's probably the only person I know who has met every famous actor, actress, and director in the world! The next time I see him, I'm thinking of asking for his autograph!
It's really great to see him still passionate about cinema even though he now knows how the spectale is made. He currently works at Scanline VFX, using his artistry to bring us joy in this year's upcoming blockbusters!
